An Old Friend

Mum and I met up with Aunty Looi, a dear friend of mum's who she has known since her nursing days in England. We travelled north-west for the weekend to stay at her beautiful house in Pinner. Aunty Looi and her partner, Keith, took us to some of the most beautiful places around there, including Moore Park where all the million dollar houses are (like Toorak only more beautiful)!

Malaysians Only

Mum had been telling me about Malaysian Hall in London- a place they provide accomodation for Malaysian students. But not only do they provide accomodation, they also have a canteen downstairs where students and other Malaysian can go and eat. So Wern-Yi decided to take us there to eat one night. However, if you are not Malaysian and want to eat there:

...haha, you MUST be accompanied by a Malaysian! How they check whether you're Malaysian or not, I'm not sure!

Picnic in the Park

It's nearly summer which means having beautiful days to go to the park! At the moment London is teasing us by being sunny one minute and then raining the next (kinda like Melbourne). But I've been told, come end of May, the weather is going to be amazing!

While mum was here, we had a good enough day to have a picnic with Wern Yi.

Our prepared food:
entree- cucumber and carrot sticks with dip
mains: roast chicken and salad
dessert: fruit salad
Mum enjoying her food :)

Stroll in the park

An odd looking tree I found.

For Ant: we can row boats here too! :)

Cold Meat Pie Anyone?

Hyde Park to Kensington Gardens

If you're ever wondering how to get from Hyde Park to Kensington Gardens here a photo guide to help you:

Walk pass this statue...

...through the flower arch...

...walk beside the long stretch of daffodils...

...pass the deck chairs...

... say hello to the one legged duck...

... breathe in the air of the lush green fields...

...walk under the bridge but dont fall into The Serpentine (the lake)...

...find a squirrel in a tree...

... donate money to Isis who represents the Egyptian goddess of motherhood
(fundraising for a children's centre)...

... spare a thought for Princess Diana as you walk around her memorial fountain...

... stop for a bite at The Lido Cafe...

... cross the road and walk down the long path...

... and ta da! You've made it! :)

Puttin' on the Ritz!

For my belated birthday present from my parents, mum took me to Afternoon Tea at the famous hotel, The Ritz!

Palm Court:
There are mirrors behind me which is why it may look a lot bigger in the photos online!

Mum is hungry! :P
(No, she didn't eat the middle tier. Our freshly bake scones hadn't arrived yet!)

Top tier: my favourite part... dessert!
Unfortunately, because we left all this till last, we were so full that we only managed to try a little bit of each of them. They wouldn't let is doggy bag them! :(

Middle tier: scones and fruit cake
The scones were a disappointment. (The scones at the metropolitan were much better Mel!)

Bottom tier: sandwiches - cheese, chicken, salmon, cucumber and ham.
The mini rolls on the end tasted like donut dough and had egg mayonnaise in it! They were the best! I had mum's share! :)

Pouring the tea.

Have you tried Rooibos red tea before? Its yummy and good for you! :) I recommend it!

All gone! :) No not really, we just had all the left overs on our plate :P

One of the waiters in their pengiun suit.

Our personal piano player... for everyone in Palm Court that is :)
We could request songs which mum and I did! And he was amazing! He played the songs we requested and more, all without any music to read! I wish I had such talent!

Inside The Ritz

In a shop called Anthropologie: this wall is made up of real plants!

Not so real: read below.

That night, we went to see Sister Act at the Palladium.

(just before the guy told that lady in front of us off about not being allowed to take photos inside :P)
