Cardiff

I'm very behind in my posts so the next few are going to be more 'photos speak louder than words' themed :)

Welcome to Wales!

What are they making?

Welsh cakes
Taste like a pancake/biscuit

After exploring Cardiff's city centre, we headed to another centre, the Millenium Centre to watch Avenue Q :D I've seen it in Melbourne already and loved it! I knew Kum would enjoy it too so we planned our trip to Cardiff around it.

Pre show entertainment - Welsh dancing

"...we live on Avenue Q!"
Was nearly as good as Melbourne's :)

Cardiff Castle
Of course they put the best country first :P

Entrance

Cardiff Bay - you can find restaurants, bars, pubs.
This reminded me of Portsmouth Gunwarf Quay... except not as big or as vibrant at night.

Inside Cardiff Castle - Norman Keep

We were lucky the on the weekend we were there, they had a small family day out Joust event on. There were many different activities and performances re-enacting the medieval times that the whole family could enjoy. We watched a sword fight and jousting. The performers were great in getting the crowd involved!
From the top of Normans Keep.

Let the jousting begin.

But first a parade with the children holding different medieval weapons... hundreds of children standing really close to each other with weapons and most parents watching from the sidelines? Not dangerous at all! :P Actually it was quite cute!

Cardiff - the city of arcades.

Bute Park

In the middle of the Gorsedd Stone Circle.
It's not an ancient monument. It was made as the place to celebrate the Welsh National Eisteddfod Competition.

Town Hall

Front of Town Hall

What's so special about the Santander Bank? Look closely...
What type of animal had these?

Elephants! :)

Cardiff... not a place I would rush back to in a hurry :P
